Compactness and fluidity, all at once, were the driving idea for this school building shaped with a V pattern whose wings are connected by a large curved terrace on which the two external staircases insist to.
The connection point of the two wings embraces the school main entrance too, and is characterized by a short porch supported by cylindrical pillars.
The structure’s look was complemented by monochrome finishes: pink paint and bricks masonry.
The renovation works aimed at consolidating the building structure (following a devastating fire) and at upgrading the fire protection system to be compliant with the Italian safety standards.
The external panels were realised with multilayer elements of porcelain steel and insulating material.
The small school is organized around the axis pivoting on the main entrance with two symmetrical volumes accommodating the classrooms lying on the sides.
The main front is slightly bent into convex shape and characterized by a semicircular cantilevered canopy on the front door.
An elegant proof of rationalist architecture.
Simple volumes and linear walls feature the outside of the school. Inside, the orthogonalityis disrupted by fluid curves of the corridors and by the galleries disengaging both the classrooms and the services.
